James Wheeler, School Sport Co-ordinator for Bishop of Rochester Academy

I am a full time SSCo, now entering my third year in the post and fortunate enough to work for both of the Medway School Sport Partnerships. This has given me the chance to be part of a broad range of sports projects across a mixture of primary and secondary schools in the last few years. Enabling young people of all backgrounds and abilities the chance to participate in school sports and other physical activities is crucial to helping them develop healthy lifestyles. I can provide support and ideas for the broad range of activities available or suitable for primary schools. I am currently working to provide some ‘new’ or previously unavailable sports at my secondary school. The schools I work with are Chatham South, All Saints, Glencoe, Greenvale and both Luton schools.

The young people in our schools are enthusiastic, committed and have energy “to spare”. We use a wide range of local amenities including Capstone Ski Slope; Gillingham Ice Bowl; Chatham AMF Bowling Centre and the Splashes and Black Lion facilities. Students compete in the Kent SEN fixture league and our Medway Schools are frequently successful in a multitude of sports. The schools I work with alongside Bradfields are Danecourt and Abbeycourt Community Schools one day per week.
