On Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st April, pupils and staff from Fort Pitt Grammar School took part in ‘Skip away from Fort Pitt!’ This was a fundraising event for the British Heart Foundation. In teams of 4-6, pupils and staff frantically skipped up and down the length of the sports hall for 25 minutes, trying to collectively skip the most metres away from Fort Pitt. There were prizes for the team that skipped the most metres away. We then added the scores of teams in each year group together, which also gave us year group winners.
The individual team winners were a 6th form team, with a total of 3980 metres skipped!
The year group winners were the Year 7’s, who collectively skipped 11,610 metres!
The Year 11’s did a fine job skipping an astounding 64,450 metres (although the whole year group joined in as this was part of their PE lesson!)
In total, the whole school skipped a staggering 100,770 metres, which is the equivalent of skipping to Reading!
Well done and a big thank you to all who took part. All together we raised a mammoth £601 – not bad for the first year! Let’s make next year even bigger!
