Medway Boccia League

As part of a new structure across Kent, Greenacre, Bradfields and Danecourt formed a local league to compete against each other in Boccia.

Boccia is an inclusive sport allowing everyone to play and is a version of bowles.

After a number of matches, the team from Greenacre were the winners and will now go on to compete in the Kent Boccia finals.

Greenacre School Futsal Champions in Kent!

After a last minute entry into the Medway Futsal Festival and winning, Greenacre School went on to represent the Greenacre School Sport Partnership in the Kent finals held at Canterbury High School. Again the team had to defeat close rivals from the Howard School in the final.

Well done to all of the players involved. The boys have been receiving coaching from local company Quick Feet Football who have been able to coach in schools thanks to Sport Unlimited funding.

2nd Medway Youth Games Girls Football

24th February 2009

Walderslade Girls School today ratained their title of the Medway Youth Games Girls football champions after a closely fought final against Chatham South - winning 5-3 on penalties, after full time could not sperate the teams after a 2-2 draw. This year the event was held at Kicks Football Centre in Strood and was refereed by volunteers from local Medway Schools.

GSSP schools entering included: Rochester Grammar School YR 7 & 8 team, Chatham South, Walderslade Girls, Thomas Aveling

Warren wood Yr 3&4 Hockey Champions

12th February 2009

After an impressive display of hockey, without conceding a goal and winning every match - Warren Wood were the proud winners of the day. Spinnens Acre came in second and Walderslade came third after a 3 way tie with Horsted and the positions having to be decided on goal difference. Volunteers from Greenacre and Thomas Aveling refereed the game. This was the first competition for the majority of the pupils and followed the first time that many of them had a go at hockey for the first time.

Kent and Medway Table Tennis

11th February 2009

The Medway Secondary Table Tennis Competition took place at the Howard School Table Tennis Centre with 90 young people taking part from 6 Medway Secondary Schools. Notable performances came from Jack Hartland (Yr7) from Chatham Grammar School for Boys and Harry Lumb (Yr8/9) from Chatham Grammar for boys for winning their age group competiion, George Horne from the Greenacre Team was awarded the most promising player.

The aftenoon session was an open Kent Competition which saw 120 young people from 24 schools take part. Special mention to St Marys Island Primary School who won the fair play award.
