The Sports Ambassadors are a representative group of young people who express their views on sport on behalf of their school. The Sports Ambassadors meet every other term to discuss issues or good practice that is occuring in their schools. Ideas are circulated and any actions from the meetings are completed by the Greenacre School Sports Partnership in conjunction with the Sports Ambassadors.

All the Sports Ambassadors have a T-Shirt and a Rain Jacket to raise their profile and also show that they are a united group helping to improve sporting opportunities across partnership schools.

At the last meeting in Term 2 the Sports Ambassadors discussed what the role of a Sports Ambassador is and how they can work in their school to promote sport. They also discussed ways to get more children and young people involved in sport, really focusing on participation in after school clubs.

After the meeting the Sports Ambassadors where set a task, which was to get at least 10 pupils from each of their schools signed up to Step Into Sport, a Youth Sport Trust initative. Step Into Sport encourages leaders and volunteers to record their completed hours online and receive rewards for the dedication and commitment they show to sport. The Sports Ambassadors must also continue to liaise with their School Sports Coordinator and work together to develop a Sports Council or Sports Forum in each Secondary School. The Sports Ambassadors are a sporting voice for young people in their school and the partnership really does take into consideration each schools needs. The Sports Ambassadors may also have the opportunity to attend Sports Festivals and events, as well as visiting their family Primary Schools to innovate and promote sport to younger children. The Sports Ambassadors are a real start to creating a legacy for sport in Medway.

The next meeting for the Sports Ambassadors will be in Term 4 and will be lead by the Sports Ambassadors from Rochester Grammar School.
